"100 Elecek" event was organized in Bishkek
With the participation of 100 women working in different fields in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, '' 100 Elecek '' (Elecek is a traditional kyrgyz headscarf) event took place.
On 26 July in Bishkek, within the scope of the International ''Oymo 2018'' Crafts Festival, the "100 Elecek" event was organized with the participation of 100 women, including doctors, teachers and even parliamentarians.
In the event, the traditional Kyrgyz ‘Elecek’ headscarf-making and covering up forms were presented.
In the event organized by Kiyiz Duyno Association, at least 25 meters of fabric was used for each headscarf.
Elecek is the headscarf in the shape of a hat of married Kyrgyz women. In the past, 40 meters of fabric was used for this headscarf. The headscarf making, and ornamenting vary according to the regions.
The International "Oymo 2018" Craftsmen’s Festival, which has been held every year since 2006, will end on 29 July in Bishkek. The festival will continue in lake Issyk, the first two weeks of August.
