First Interregional Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Forum to be held in Astana.
Kazakhstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Askar Mamin met with the President of Uzbekistan Shevket Mirziyoyev on the occasion of his business visit to Tashkent. In the discussion, current issues of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were discussed.
At the meeting Askar Mamin stated that Uzbekistan is Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in Central Asia and that the foreign trade corps for the first quarter of the year between countries increased by 50% compared to the same period last year.
It is planned that the bilateral trade volume between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be increased to USD 3 billion by the end of 2018. During the meeting, Mirziyoyev and Mamin signed an agreement on make the first regional meeting of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Forum in Astana, the Central Asian countries Regional Economic Forum in Tashkent, the first meeting of the Business Council and the Joint Business Forum in Chimkent.
The parties have exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in construction, engineering, transportation, logistics, tourism, space, military-technical cooperation.
