Iran Can Participate in Turkmenistan's Gas Project
Iran can participate in Turkmenistan's gas project.
Iran wants to be involved the project that to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan.
Speaking about the subject Iranian Energy Minister and the Executive Director of the National Gas Company Hamid Reza Araki, reported that they were ready to transport Turkmenistan natural gas to Pakistan based on swap exchange basis. Previously, Iran was carrying the Turkmenistan natural gas to Azerbaijan with the same operations.
He noted that Iran could partner with any natural gas pipeline project in its neighborhood due to its efficient location in the region.
Araki expressed their doubts about realization of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
Iran has been importing natural gas from Turkmenistan for the northern regions of its country since 1997, even though has rich natural gas deposits in the southern regions.
