The High Level Political and Security Dialogue between the European Union and Central Asia took place
In Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, the 5th High Level Political and Security Dialogue between the European Union and Central Asia took place on 9 July.
Interregional communication talks between Europe and Central Asian countries are regularly carried out with the participation of foreign ministries of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan since 2013. The representatives of Afghanistan also attended the Dialogue as a special guest.
The Dialogue addressed political and security issues of the European Union and the abovementioned countries and reviewed possibilities for reinforced cooperation. The dialogue also facilitates the implementation of the EU Strategy and development programs in Central Asia.
The EU also supports Central Asian partners in the fight against drugs through a regional Central Asia Drug Action Program (CADAP) and a trans-regional program EU Action against Drugs and Organized Crime (EU-ACT).
