Turkey to continue buying natural gas from Iran despite U.S. sanctions
U.S President Donald Trump said ‘’Anyone doing business with Iran will not be doing business with the United States." However, Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez said that Turkey will continue to cooperate with Iran.
"Energy security is very important to us, we have a gas agreement with Iran that will last up to 2026. According to the agreement, 9.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be taken out annually and we will continue our contract because we do not want to leave our citizens cold and without electricity." said the Energy and Natural Resources Minister.
He also noted that the US's decision to sanction Iran is unilateral.
