Turkmen school was opened in Russia
Turkmen school was opened in Russia's Astrakhan region.
In the village of Funtovo in the Privoljsko district of the Astrakhan region in the south-west of Russia, on the Caspian coast, the opening of a Turkmen school for 190 pupils built by Turkmenistan was held on 18the May.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of Astrakhan region Aleksandr Zhilkin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigoriy Karasin, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Pavel Zenkovich as well as the official Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov. At the opening, it was stated that the largest Turkmen diasporas were in Funtovo.
The construction of a new school began in 2016 on the initiative of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The construction materials of the school were delivered by ferry via the Caspian Sea.
In addition, the opening ceremony of Mahtumkuli Fragi-famous Turkmen poet's monument was held at the garden of the school.
