When does Ramadan start?
Preparations have started with the approach of Ramadan, sultan of the eleven months. Ramadan is the month of fasting. Laylat Al Qadr, or the ‘Night of Power’ which is considered the holiest night of the year for Muslims, is also included in the month of Ramadan.

This year, Ramadan will start on 16th of May. The first iftar (sunset meal) will be set on Wednesday, May 16th. After a month of fasting, Ramadan Feast will be celebrated.
The first day of Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, June 15th. Since the holiday dates coincide with the weekend, the holiday will not be as long as it was in the past years.
The holiday calendar is as follows;
14th of June, Thursday – Ramadan Bairam Eve
15th of June, Friday – 1st day of Ramadan Holiday
16th of June, Saturday - 2nd day of Ramadan
17th of June, Sunday – 3rd day of Ramadan
